Responsibilities include telephone reservations, filing, data entry, responding to email inquiries, inventory control, checking in guests, handling money, and cleaning office space. We are looking for new and experienced office staff to welcome our guests as they check in for their various activities. Responsibilities include handling waivers, money, data entry, inventory control, checking in guests and cleaning the office space. Candidates should understand risk management, be organized, have an eye for detail and enjoy working in a fast-paced and busy environment. These positions are available in both Glenwood Springs and Idaho Springs, CO.
We are looking for experienced full-time and part-time drivers for our fleet of buses and vans. Our drivers are required to have excellent safety and driving records as well as be in good health. You must have a current DOT physical, Colorado CDL (commercial driver’s license) and be able to pass a pre-employment and possible random drug screenings. We will need a copy of your driving records. You will need to have a class B license with passenger and air brakes endorsements. Driving of buses does include the use of a trailer.
We are always looking for guides with commercial experience. Our experienced guides will be required to run both oar and paddle rafts. You must have accurate and up-to-date guide logs (including training and certification) to be eligible for employment. By Colorado law you will be required to have a minimum of Basic First Aid and CPR, but higher levels of medical skills as well as swiftwater rescue skills will improve your job prospects and daily pay. We hire only professionals, and we expect the highest level of professionalism from our staff. You will be working for a guide-owned and operated company whose ownership as well as management often gets on the river.
Aside of students and their school schedules, you must be available to work from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend to be considered for employment. CAC runs three different rivers, and we expect our more qualified guides to train and be certified on all three rivers. Our more experienced guides must be willing to travel from river to river. Although we are seemingly spread across the state, we have a very close-knit staff and most of our guides return year after year. We are primarily looking for new guides who are interested in more than just one season’s work; this will be taken into consideration during hiring.

We define experienced staff as those with at least 200 hours of at-height experience, and knowledge of basic rescue and lowering techniques. You should have an accurate and up-to-date portfolio detailing your work history and be able to pass a site specific skills test in place of attending the full new guide training. We require all staff to have a current CPR & First Aid card within 30 days of employment; failure to have any of the aforementioned will affect your job prospects and trip pay. Preference will be given to applicants holding a current ACCT Level II certification and/or CDL license. We hire only professionals, and we expect the highest level of professionalism from our staff. The primary responsibility of this job is to manage the inherent risks of working in the adventure industry. Staff will be trained to properly facilitate and lead guests through the zip line, rock climbing wall, and challenge course elements.

Select staff may work March through October. All staff must meet the participant requirements (48″ tall and between 65-250 lbs). During training and work hours closed-toe shoes are required, and staff hired will be required to purchase staff shirts. CPR & First Aid training is available at a minimal cost. Both courses are open 7 days a week in the summer so staff will be required to work weekdays and weekends with varying days off. Anyone who applies should recognize that this is a lifestyle more than a typical job and standard work hours do not apply – fun and adventure is in your job description!
Colorado Adventure Center’s Professional Zip Line Guide Training Program
Receive training on the technical skills to work at height as well as skills in Risk Management, Customer Service, Decision Making and Time Management!
Colorado Adventure Center (CAC) prides itself on providing fun & informative trips on some of Colorado’s most visible zip lines and challenge courses. Located in Both Idaho Springs and Glenwood Springs, CO staff and guests can enjoy tons of adventure activities within easy access of the I-70 corridor. CAC’s qualified training staff has years of experience on courses all over the United States. The goal of our training program is to train and qualify individuals who are interested in exploring the amazing world of aerial adventures. Our training will teach skills, techniques, thought processes, gearing, knot-tying and the safety/rescue techniques needed to become a professional zip line guide. We also cover risk management, customer service, teamwork, decision making, time management, vertical rescues and many more exciting skills!
DATES: The exact dates vary each year – typically there is a training in May & June. Contact our office for more training date specifics. Last year we had a training in April!
Training begins with a ‘participant experience’ where trainees see the course through the guests’ eyes. The majority of training is hands on and at-height. A standard training day includes 3 parts: time at height practicing skills, rescue practice, group discussion/training on the ground or in a conference room. Everyone is expected to spend time acting as a guide as well as a participant… rain, snow, or shine. By the end of training, trainees will have acquired more than 40 hours of training (far more than the industry standard). It’s important to us and it should be to you that your training exceeds the standards of the the industry.
We take training very seriously. It is the foundation of your career with us, and the foundation of our business. Our pledge to you is that your training will be of the highest quality possible.
Training will take approximately 5-8 days, depending on weather and individuals’ ability to learn the necessary skills. Even though we hire most or all of our new guides from the training course, we’d like to emphasize that you are not guaranteed a job after the program is over. We plan on hiring all of the people that train with us, and if it doesn’t work out with us, we will give you information on other employment opportunities in the area. It is your responsibility to complete training with the ability to follow the safety protocol that keep guides and guests secure and mitigate the risks of being at-height. Failure to do so will result in a non-passing mark in the training.
Colorado Adventure Center also offers a First Aid & CPR class during our training program. Staff are encouraged to obtain these certifications prior to arriving. Typical cost for CPR & First Aid is $50; if you attend the course provided by CAC the fee is in addition to the standard zip line training program cost.
*NOTE: If you pursue CPR/First Aid certification on your own please ensure you obtain the CPR for the professional rescuer certification and standard First Aid.
